What do you do when you can’t knit?

My knitting inspiration is low which has me wondering: what do you all do when you’re not knitting?

Crazy, I know. There are indeed some other things to do that don’t involve yarn, so no, crochet isn’t a valid answer here. Weaving might be, and spinning definitely is. But I’m also thinking beyond fibre crafts.

Obviously I read comics and books at a rate of knots, but I also write and draw and walk the dog and cuddle the cats. I play on Flight Rising (if you join, I’m Polo) with my pretty pixel dragons and I talk with my sister back in England. What do you do to pass the time when knitting just doesn’t want to happen?

  1. In lieu of knitting I’ll spin/weave/crochet if I’m in a fibery creative spot. I like playing around with paint and pyrography when the weather permits. Mostly I search the local thrift shops for useful things and peruse my lys. And if all else fails I binge watch tv and browse ravelry looking for ‘free for a limited time’ patterns that catch my attention. (Because who says there’s such thing as too many patterns right?) The rest of the time I have to deal with kids /hubby/housework, so I like taking advantage of creativity.

  2. I cook, sew, watch Netflix/Hulu.
I started soaping last year-which lead to making my own lotions, shampoo bars, laundry soaps etc. Keeps me busy😵 & out of trouble.
A close friend/coworker was gravely ill last April and my knitting comforted and distracted me. When she passed, I didn’t pick up my needles for 6 months!

  3. Either one of two things: reading or binging on Netflix. Because of my e-reader, I am able to knit and read at the same time, but it’s sometimes nice to give the hands a rest and just delve into the book
